PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Kazansky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazansky comes to the cage accompanied by Danger Zone. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Kazansky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Richards!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards needs to keep his hands up - Kazansky had a free shot at his head there.
Kazansky misses with a takedown attempt - Richards sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Richards shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Richards trying to control but Kazansky is having none of it.
Kazansky is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Richards goes for an armbar but Kazansky turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kazansky.
Richards looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Richards pushes Kazansky off and scrambles back to his feet.

Richards closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Richards lands in his opponent's guard.
Richards slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kazansky bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Richards's guard.
Richards pulls Kazansky in close to his closed guard and prevents Kazansky from doing any damage or advancing position.
Richards tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kazansky pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Richards is keeping the position for now.

Kazansky drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Richards manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kazansky has Richards in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kazansky is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Richards is controlling him.
Richards trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Richards gets to his feet. Kazansky looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kazansky is breathing heavily.

Kazansky feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Richards pushes Kazansky off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Richards counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kazansky won't be happy with that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Richards wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kazansky keeps working.

Richards has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Richards drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kazansky keeping full guard, as Richards tries to pass.
Richards looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Richards wants to stand but Kazansky is controlling his posture from full guard.

Richards slips nicely into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Richards prevents Kazansky from improving his position.
Kazansky makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kazansky.
Kazansky throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Richards postures up.
Richards wants to control from the top but Kazansky keeps moving.
Kazansky looking for a sweep. Not yet Kazansky, not yet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Richards seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kazansky tries to strike from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Richards dominated that round.
That's time! Kazansky's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Richards scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Kazansky gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Kazansky is trying to escape the mount.
Kazansky is working hard here to advance position.
A nice elbow there by Richards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kazansky is in all sorts of trouble here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Richards trying to control but Kazansky is having none of it.

Richards has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kazansky's face.
Mike Richards has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kazansky can't escape the position.
Richards can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kazansky is looking to escape.
Richards lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Kazansky tries to lock up and control but Richards gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kazansky is in all sorts of trouble here.
Richards lands a heavy elbow.

Richards is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Richards extends the arm and Kazansky is forced to tap!
