The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mixirica holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Williams breaks the clinch.
Mixirica shoots in but no luck this time.
Williams misses with a double jab.
Williams is looking to slow Mixirica down with leg kicks.
Williams gets caught flat footed, as Mixirica shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mixirica engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Marcio Mixirica was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Williams throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mixirica tries to move to mount but Williams blocks the move with his legs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams seems a little lost for a moment, as Mixirica dominates the positioning.
This has been an exciting period of action!
It looks like Mixirica might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Mixirica's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Williams could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

and Mixirica counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mixirica.

Williams gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mixirica counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bryan Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mixirica sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Williams's guard.
Mixirica is taking a breather. Williams says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Williams wants to improve his position but Mixirica is controlling well.

Mixirica works his foot free and advances to mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mixirica takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Williams is in a horrible position here. Mixirica smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mixirica tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Mixirica is trying to break the clinch but Williams is controlling him.
Mixirica has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Williams is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Mixirica has Williams pressed against the cage, preventing Williams from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Williams has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mixirica wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Mixirica is trying to drag Williams to the mat but Williams just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mixirica manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Williams wants to control from the top but Mixirica keeps moving.

Mixirica is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Mixirica extends the arm and Williams is forced to tap!
