PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Gambit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ringo Spar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gambit kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dj Kool - Let Me Clear My Throat. Spar has chosen i Get Knocked Down, But i Get Up Again as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ringo Spar acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Gambit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ringo Spar!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gambit throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gambit throws a body punch but Spar moves out of range.
Gambit attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Spar throws a jab but it's blocked by Gambit.
Ringo Spar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gambit lands a jab to Spar's midsection.
Gambit misses with a looping left.
Gambit steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Spar.

Spar scores with a takedown into Gambit's guard.
Spar throws a big right hand that misses.
Spar with a flurry of punches that miss.
Gambit trying to control the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gambit holds on and takes a little breather.

Gambit looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Spar trying to control the position from guard on top but Gambit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gambit preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Gambit is trying to keep Spar in close.

Gambit is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Spar postures up in Gambit's guard and throws a big left but Gambit blocks it.
Gambit manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spar manages to get himself to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gambit accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gambit throws a big elbow that misses.
Gambit trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Gambit tries to free his leg and advance position but Spar is retaining full guard.
Spar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ringo Spar.
Spar throws a hook but Gambit blocks it.
Spar doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Spar pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A telegraphed right hand from Gambit misses the target.
Spar gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Gambit.
Gambit tries to clinch but Spar is having none of it.

Gambit moves into the clinch.

Gambit pulls guard successfully.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gambit avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gambit is on top in guard.
Gambit is looking to work some ground and pound but Spar has wrist control.
Spar keeping moving, preventing Gambit from controlling successfully.
Spar controls Gambit momentarily but Gambit frees himself.
Gambit wants to pass the guard but Spar is keeping the position.
Gambit trying to control the position from guard on top but Spar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Spar keeping full guard, as Gambit tries to pass.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jason Gambit wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Spar swings and misses with a hook to the body.
No joy there for Gambit, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Spar misses with an uppercut.
Jab from Gambit.
Spar on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Gambit is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Spar throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gambit sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gambit is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gambit just misses with a punch to the body.
Spar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Spar closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Spar has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Gambit clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Gambit dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Spar works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Gambit scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Gambit defending well as Spar loads up on a big left hand.
Spar misses with a straight left.
Spar scores with a jab to the body.
Gambit fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Spar on the side of the head.
Gambit on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Spar is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Spar has Gambit up against the cage in a clinch.
Gambit looking for a takedown.

Spar tightens his grip and picks Gambit up, before dumping him to the ground. Gambit manages to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gambit controls Spar momentarily but Spar frees himself.
Spar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Spar tries to free his leg and advance position but Gambit is retaining full guard.
Spar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Spar postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Gambit had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Spar defends it easily.

Spar drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spar jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gambit is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Spar rolls with it to try and escape but Gambit cranks on the arm and Spar is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jason Gambit!
A relieved looking Jason Gambit thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
