PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Binse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire comes to the cage accompanied by Johnny Cash sings The Battle Hymn Of The Republic. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike McGuire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christopher Binse!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Binse tries to move into range but McGuire moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Binse connects with a high kick.
A lazy left from Binse finds it's target.
McGuire moves in looking to clinch but Binse pushes him off.
Binse displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McGuire throws out the jab.
Binse steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McGuire.
Binse throws a hook to the side of McGuire's head but McGuire sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Binse is looking to chop away at McGuire's legs.
McGuire jabs Binse right on the nose. Binse blinks but takes it well.
A big right from Binse misses.
McGuire throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A slapping leg kick lands for Binse.
Binse thows a left - swing and a miss!

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGuire throws a leg kick which misses Binse's front leg but catches the back leg as Binse tries to avoid it.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Binse.
McGuire is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
McGuire throws a half hearted mid kick.
Binse slips a jab from McGuire.
Nice straight punches there by Binse. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Binse.
A slapping body kick lands there for McGuire.
Binse throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McGuire sees it coming and avoids it easily.
McGuire dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Binse closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGuire manages to get back to half guard.

McGuire actively working from the bottom here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McGuire is looking for a sweep. Binse is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Binse tries to pass to full mount but McGuire defends it.
McGuire gets full guard.

McGuire can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Binse controls the pace.
Binse must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McGuire keeping moving, preventing Binse from controlling successfully.

McGuire working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Binse doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Binse manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Binse avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Binse wants to pass the guard but McGuire is keeping the position.
McGuire is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McGuire is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Binse defends well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Binse loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Binse keeps the fight on the outside.
McGuire misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Binse.
A looping hook to the body misses from McGuire. Binse does a little dance to reset his feet.
McGuire clobbers Binse with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
McGuire tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Binse was well out of range. Poor timing from McGuire.
McGuire throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McGuire throws a wild body kick that Binse sees coming a mile off.
Binse slips a straight right by McGuire.
Binse misses with a shot to the body
and McGuire connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Binse lands a nice leg kick that just misses McGuire's sensitive parts.
McGuire moves out of range as Binse throws a body kick.

Binse manages to get an easy takedown there - catching McGuire on his heels. He'll look to pass McGuire's guard now, I'm sure.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McGuire is looking to sinch up a triangle. Binse throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to McGuire's body to avoid the submission. McGuire has instead reached around Binse's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! McGuire arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mike McGuire!
During a confident post fight interview, Mike McGuire thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
