The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cosby tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hardwood sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cosby somewhat.
Cosby closes the distance and clinches up with Hardwood, looking for a takedown. Cosby pushes Hardwood against the cage but Hardwood circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cosby dodges the punch combination from Hardwood.
Cosby gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hardwood.

Hardwood misses with a leg kick
and Cosby counters with a low kick, right behind Hardwood 's knee.

Cosby tries to close the distance and clinch but Hardwood swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cosby shoots in looking for a takedown. Hardwood tries to sprawl out of it but Cosby keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hardwood manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hardwood looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Cosby moves away from the strike by Hardwood.
Hardwood loads up on a big right hand but Cosby slips the punch.
No luck for Cosby with that takedown attempt.
Hardwood misses with a series of wild punches.
Hardwood swats away the attempt to clinch by Cosby.

Cosby shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hardwood defends it nicely.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cosby accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bill Cosby wasn't active enough on the ground.

Cosby closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hardwood wanted to stand there but Cosby had control of the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hardwood won't allow Cosby to sweep him here.
Cosby has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
