Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stan Engrle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otto Kaikkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kaikkonen's choice of entrance music: Duran Duran - WIld Boys. Stan Engrle has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stan Engrle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Otto Kaikkonen!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Engrle lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Kaikkonen sprawling to the canvas. Engrle follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Kaikkonen hang on?


Kaikkonen is rocked!
Kaikkonen pushes Engrle off looking to stand but Engrle dives back in and keeps control.
Kaikkonen is still in real trouble! Can Engrle finish him?

Engrle escapes and gets back to his feet.
Engrle pushes Kaikkonen away with a front kick.
Kaikkonen seems to have recovered his senses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Engrle rushes Kaikkonen and presses him up against the cage.
Engrle misses with a knee to the head.
Kaikkonen scores a nice knee to the body.
Engrle stalling in the clinch but Kaikkonen improves position.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Engrle.
Engrle stops a takedown attempt from Kaikkonen.
Kaikkonen looks gassed!
Engrle looking to throw knees to the head but Kaikkonen is blocking nicely.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Engrle creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Engrle lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Engrle lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Kaikkonen with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Kaikkonen takes an elbow to the forehead.
Engrle lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Engrle unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kaikkonen lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Engrle manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Engrle missing with knees to the body.
Kaikkonen using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Engrle has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Kaikkonen breaks from the clinch.
Engrle tries to score with a low kick but Kaikkonen moves his leg out of the way.

Engrle is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kaikkonen shoots for a double leg takedown but Engrle sprawls well. He's pushed Kaikkonen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kaikkonen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Engrle moves in looking to clinch but Kaikkonen pushes him off.
Engrle clobbers Kaikkonen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Engrle scores with a leg kick.
Kaikkonen clinches but Engrle breaks the clinch
and Engrle counters with a low kick, right behind Kaikkonen 's knee.

Kaikkonen blocks the elbow strike.

Engrle manages to break the clinch.
Kaikkonen tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Engrle counters with a big head kick but Kaikkonen shrugs it off.
Engrle scores with a one two! Kaikkonen had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Kaikkonen moves into the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Kaikkonen as the two fighters clinch.
Kaikkonen with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Engrle wants to stall.
Engrle blocks an elbow strike.
Engrle wants to get back to striking at distance but Kaikkonen won't allow it.

Kaikkonen manages to break the clinch.

Engrle motions for Kaikkonen to come forward. Engrle throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Kaikkonen knocks Engrle to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?


It looks like Stan Engrle has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kaikkonen trying to control the action but Engrle is working from the bottom.

Kaikkonen decides to stand back up.

Engrle rushes Kaikkonen and presses him up against the cage.
Kaikkonen goes for a takedown in the clinch but Engrle prevents it.
Stan Engrle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Otto Kaikkonen.
Kaikkonen lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Engrle can't break the clinch.

Kaikkonen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Engrle wants to clinch

and Kaikkonen moves into the clinch.
Kaikkonen lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Kaikkonen throws a knee to the head but misses.
Engrle scores with a knee to the head.
Engrle wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kaikkonen has him pressed against the cage.

Engrle throws an elbow but it misses.
Engrle scores a nice knee to the body.
Engrle tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Kaikkonen is trying to stall.
Engrle gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Engrle manages to break the clinch.
Engrle scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Nice takedown defense from Engrle. No joy for Kaikkonen on that attempt.

Engrle drives through and clinches with Kaikkonen against the cage.
Engrle misses with a knee strike.
Kaikkonen scores a nice knee to the body.
Engrle throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Engrle lands a knee to the head.
Kaikkonen blocks an elbow strike from Engrle.
Kaikkonen tries to land a knee to the head but Engrle blocks with his arms.
Engrle lands an elbow just above Kaikkonen 's eye.
Engrle is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Engrle gets in close and instigates a clinch.

A head kick by Engrle - that's a beauty! Kaikkonen is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Engrle can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Stan Engrle!
