Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Terry Tate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Doby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doby has chosen International Players Anthem as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Terry Tate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Doby!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tate throws a leg kick but Doby sees it coming and moves out of range.
Tate takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Doby takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Doby checks a leg kick nicely.
Tate throws a head kick that misses.
Tate fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Doby checks a leg kick.
Tate misses with a takedown attempt - Doby sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A low kick from Tate is predictable there
and Doby counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Doby tries to close the distance and clinch but Tate swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

so Doby counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Doby wants to control from the top but Tate keeps moving.
Tate keeping full guard, as Doby tries to pass.
Tate might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Doby drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tate looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tate looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tate!
Doby avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Tate.
Doby tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tate wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Doby is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Doby wants to sweep but Tate has passed to side control!
You can see the frustration on Doby's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Doby is trying to work for a sweep but Tate has mounted him!
Tate is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Doby bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Doby throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tate works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Doby passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Doby throwing strikes but Tate manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Doby is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tate off and has taken his back!

Tate is trapped and Doby is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Doby is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Tate has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Tate finds himself mounted whilst avoiding strikes.

Doby swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Tate is now in Doby's guard. A big mistake from Doby there, giving up the dominant position!

Doby working for a triangle but Tate defends it easily.

Doby has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tate is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Doby.

Doby tries to reverse the position but Tate maintains control.

Doby sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Doby is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tate slips a nice elbow through Doby's hands, connecting with Doby's forehead.
Doby moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Doby keeping moving, preventing Tate from controlling successfully.
Tate stopping the sweep attempt from Doby.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Doby is trying to keep Tate in close.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Doby throws a lazy uppercut
and Tate counters with an outside leg kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tate. That's going to slow Doby down.
Tate missing with a left hand there. Doby was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

and Doby counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Tate throws the kick towards the body but Doby avoids it.
Doby misses with a jab, cross combination.
Tate lands a right hook to the body.
Doby avoids the head kick by Tate.
Doby cracks Tate with an open hand slap.
Tate feints and then cracks Doby's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Doby down.
Doby tries to close the distance and clinch but Tate swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Tate shoots for a takedown but Doby saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tate misses with a jab to the body
and Doby counters with a nice body shot.
Doby clobbers Tate with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Doby counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Tate gets back to full guard.
Doby looking to sit in guard and control but Tate gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Tate passes Doby's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Doby looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Doby has a hand on Tate's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Tate takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tate can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Doby is looking to escape.
Tate prevents Doby from getting the reversal.

Doby is in all sorts of trouble here.
Doby is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Doby is desperately trying to improve his position but Tate has a good base and remains in mount.
Doby manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Tate wants to take a breather but Doby is having none of it.
Doby is trying to maintain the position but Tate is very close to passing his half guard.

Doby is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tate pulls his head out easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Terry Tate will probably get the nod.

and Doby counters with a stiff right hand.
Tate has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Tate there as he acknowledges the shot.
Tate tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Doby is able to avoid easily.
Tate looks to throw the jab but Doby is out of range.
Tate shoots in for a takedown but Doby shows good takedown defense.
Tate pivots, looking for a leg kick but Doby is out of range and Tate settles back down.
Tate missing with a left hand there. Doby was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Tate lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Doby works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Doby connects with a single shot there.
Tate misses with a lunging right hand
and Doby counters with a slapping leg kick.

Tate looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Tate tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tate tried to score with a low kick but Doby checks it.
Doby throws a head kick that Tate semi-blocks.
Doby throws a jab but it's blocked by Tate.
Doby scores with a nice head shot.
Doby cracks Tate with a good jab.
Terry Tate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Doby drops Tate with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Tate! Doby dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

A relieved looking Shane Doby thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
