Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brenen Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phillips kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Monster. Garcia has chosen Art of Fighting Theme as his entrance music. Robert Garcia struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Brenen Phillips has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips dives in and grabs Garcia's left leg, looking for a takedown. Garcia pushes down on Phillips's head and hops out.
Phillips fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Garcia avoids it really well and circles away.
Phillips changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Garcia tries to avoid it but Phillips manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Garcia to the ground. Garcia escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brenen Phillips. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Phillips wants to lay and pray for a moment but Garcia keeps working.

Phillips is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Garcia is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Garcia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Phillips. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Phillips is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Garcia knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brenen Phillips opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
