Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Julian Lahm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Georges St Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Pierre takes one to the chin there.
Lahm comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
St Pierre with a poor takedown
and Lahm counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
St Pierre keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
St Pierre doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lahm counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Julian Lahm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
St Pierre shoots and misses
enabling Lahm to counter with a crisp jab.
Julian Lahm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Georges St Pierre.
Lahm dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Lahm lands a straight punch to the body, keeping St Pierre at a distance.
St Pierre looks winded!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lahm connects with a jab.
Lahm throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent St Pierre stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lahm circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops St Pierre to the canvas! St Pierre doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Lahm keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Julian Lahm!
In his post fight interview, Julian Lahm started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
