The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nice combo by Ja! Oh, that's hurt him - Ruan falls to the canvas and Ja follows him into side control.

It looks like John Ruan has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ruan wants to control but Ja postures up.
Ruan tries to buck Ja off but Ja is having none of it.
Ruan sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ja missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Ruan regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ja.
Ja throws an elbow that misses. Ruan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ja's guard. Nice move by Ruan!
Ruan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ja swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ruan won't allow Ja to get back to his feet.

Ja makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Ruan tries a head kick but it misses.
Ja uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ruan.
Ja shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ruan sprawls well. Ruan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ja gets slowly back to his feet.
Ruan throws a looping overhand right but Ja ducks down to avoid it.
Ruan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ja moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ruan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ruan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ruan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ja lands a brutal head kick. Ruan looks out on his feet and Ja throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
