PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Homero Lacerda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Drakkar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lacerda comes to the cage accompanied by Go Hard. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Homero Lacerda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ivan Drakkar!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lacerda, as that shot connected.
Lacerda is looking to clinch but Drakkar is avoiding it.
Drakkar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lacerda scores with a sloppy right hand. Drakkar should have avoided that one.

Drakkar closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Drakkar looking to throw knees to the head but Lacerda is blocking nicely.

Lacerda gets control of Drakkar's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lacerda will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Lacerda is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Drakkar stands up and waves to Lacerda to follow him.
Lacerda misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Drakkar throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Lacerda on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lacerda shoots for a double leg takedown but Drakkar sprawls well. He's pushed Lacerda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lacerda swings for the body but Drakkar moves out of range.
Lacerda moves in looking to clinch but Drakkar pushes him off.
Lacerda looks to land a left hand but Drakkar moved out of range nicely.

Lacerda looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Lacerda is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lacerda is looking to take a break and control but Drakkar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lacerda is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Drakkar is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drakkar keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lacerda stalling away here and it's allowed Drakkar to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Drakkar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Drakkar seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Lacerda is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Drakkar pulls his head out easily.

Drakkar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lacerda, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Homero Lacerda will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Homero Lacerda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lacerda had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Drakkar defends it easily.

Lacerda thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Lacerda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Drakkar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Drakkar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lacerda closes the distance and clinches up with Drakkar, looking for a takedown. Lacerda pushes Drakkar against the cage but Drakkar circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ivan Drakkar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ivan Drakkar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Drakkar jerks Lacerda's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Lacerda drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Drakkar goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Drakkar because Lacerda was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Ivan Drakkar!
An out of breath Ivan Drakkar thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
