Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Schindler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goran Spaten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spaten has chosen Knockin Boots by Candyman as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Kurt Schindler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Goran Spaten!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spaten gets caught napping as Schindler dives in and scores a takedown. Spaten manages to retain guard.
Schindler throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spaten works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spaten wants to stand and escape but Schindler is having none of it.
Schindler wants to pass the guard but Spaten is keeping the position.
Schindler prevents Spaten from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schindler engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Spaten wants to get back to his feet but Schindler is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Schindler controls from within his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Schindler shoots in and gets a takedown into Spaten's guard.

Schindler shoots in for a double leg but Spaten sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

A solid leg kick lands there for Schindler.
Schindler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Spaten is fending him off so far but Schindler persists. Nope, Spaten circles away and we're back to standing.

Nice takedown defense from Spaten. No joy for Schindler on that attempt.

Spaten has managed to clinch.
Schindler lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Spaten or not.
Schindler content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Spaten tries to land a knee to the head but Schindler blocks with his arms.
Spaten is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Schindler is defending well for now.

Schindler turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Schindler in particular looking to stall.

The referee asks Schindler politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Schindler prefers to stall for the moment though.

Goran Spaten has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
