PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lazarus Envy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chilo Menga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Envy comes into the arena with Converge - Dark Horse blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A thudding body kick lands there by Envy!
Envy connects with a high kick.
Envy moves in looking to clinch but Menga pushes him off.

Menga closes the distance and clinches.

Menga breaks the clinch.

Menga gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Menga breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Envy darts in trying to clinch

and Menga counters with a nice double leg into side control. Envy won't be happy with that.
Envy tries to buck Menga off but Menga is having none of it.

Menga goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Envy has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Menga but great work by Envy.
Envy wants to stand but Menga has his arm trapped.
Menga is trying to control Envy's posture but Envy avoids it.

Envy trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

You get the feeling that Envy really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Menga unloads with some shots from mount but Envy bucks and avoids them well.

Menga stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Menga misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Envy throws a sloppy head kick and Menga moves out of range easily.

Menga takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Menga is still in real trouble! Can Envy finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Envy wants to stand and escape but Menga is having none of it.
Menga seems to have recovered his senses.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Envy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Menga doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Menga manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Envy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Menga is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Envy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Menga's back instead.
Envy doesn't have the hooks in and Menga manages to turn into his guard.

Menga is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Envy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Envy has escaped and now he's on top!

Envy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Menga, up you get!

The fight stays on the outside here - Menga looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Chilo Menga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Menga keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Envy has his foot on Menga's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Menga works his way back into a safe position though.
