Nichols's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Backyard Fighting. McBain has chosen Alien8 as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBain tries to clinch up but Nichols circles away and keeps his distance.

McBain fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nichols, pushing him back against the cage.
McBain creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
McBain misses with an elbow over the top.
McBain tries to throw a body punch but Nichols avoids it by throwing McBain back against the cage.
Nichols tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McBain smiles and moves away.
McBain closes the distance but Nichols moves to the side
and Nichols counters with a lovely shot to the body.
McBain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McBain is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cage Nichols seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nichols pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Nichols has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can McBain defend it? Nichols steps over the head and cranks it - McBain is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Nichols!
