Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ty Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Trik Turner - Friends and Family. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ty Angle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Alves!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Alves throws out the jab.
Angle fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Alves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Angle.

Alves scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Alves working away.
Angle gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Angle keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Angle is looking for a sweep. Alves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Angle is working hard here to advance position.
Alves looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Angle is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alves pulls his head out easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alves lands a nice short elbow.
Angle tries to roll over but Alves keeps him under control.

Angle is looking for a sweep. Alves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Alves not doing much here.
Alves scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Alves is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Angle looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Angle is trying to control but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Angle looking for a kimura from the bottom but Alves passes into side control!
Angle manages to get back to half guard.
Alves winds up and cracks Angle with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Angle wants to control but Alves is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Alves thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Angle's head.
Angle tries to get to full guard but Alves has control of the leg.
Angle is pressing down on Alves's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Alves sitting in guard here, content to control.

Angle has his foot on Alves's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alves works his way back into a safe position though.
Angle wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Angle keeping moving, preventing Alves from controlling successfully.
Alves makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Angle swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alves avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Alves is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Angle is looking for a triangle but Alves pushes his legs off easily.
Alves is in close to Angle's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Angle is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Angle lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alves!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alves bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Angle throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Angle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Angle has an active guard here but Alves has managed to pass into half guard.
Alves trying to control the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Freddy Alves will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Angle shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Alves counters with a three punch combo that has Angle backing up. Angle nods at Alves to acknowledge the strikes.
Ty Angle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Angle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Angle shoots for a takedown but Alves saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Angle misses with a takedown attempt - Alves sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ty Angle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Angle takes one on the button.
Angle wants to clinch up but Alves keeps it at a distance.
Angle doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Alves counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Angle down! Alves is looking to finish but Angle is intelligently defending himself.


Angle is rocked!

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Alves looking to pass the guard.

Freddy Alves has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Alves throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Angle sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ty Angle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Alves fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Angle manages to avoid it.
Angle misses with a takedown
and Alves counters with a series of strikes. Angle will be more careful next time no doubt.
Angle shoots and misses
and Alves counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Freddy Alves seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Alves cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Oh Angle is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Angle fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Alves circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Angle to the canvas! Angle doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Alves keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Freddy Alves!
A relieved looking Freddy Alves thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
