The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson slips a jab and a cross from Masumune.
Masumune scores with a three punch combo!

Simpson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Simpson controls the position from side control.

Simpson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Simpson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Masumune, who protects the arm well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Simpson fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Simpson cracks Masumune with a big elbow.
Simpson is looking to take a break and control but Masumune is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Masumune is trying to control Simpson's posture but Simpson avoids it.
