The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dodson instigates a clinch.
Shouse holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Dodson has Shouse pressed against the cage, preventing Shouse from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Shouse tries to throw a body punch but Dodson avoids it by throwing Shouse back against the cage.

Shouse breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shouse tries to clinch there but Dodson circles away.

Dodson gets a clinch.

Shouse breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dodson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Shouse tries to bum rush Dodson with a series of wild strikes but Dodson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Shouse takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Dodson throws a head kick but Shouse moves out of range.

Dodson takes the fight into the clinch.
Shouse is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shouse managing to block the knees to the body from Dodson.

Shouse pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Dodson staggers Shouse with a jab and knocks him down with a follow up straight! Shouse looks in trouble, will he beat the count?! The count has reached 5 and he's only back to 1 knee - it's going to be close! 6,7,8 - he's up! Just in time and the ref is going to let the fight continue!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dodson is looking to chop away at Shouse 's legs.
Shouse throws a left and a right that both miss
and Dodson counters with a right hand that wobbles Shouse ! He's out on his feet! Dodson follows up with a left hook and a final right hand that knocks Shouse out cold! No need for a referee count here - this fight is all over! Dodson jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his corner.

A determined John Dodson didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
