PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Key Chain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mack comes to the cage accompanied by Ships in the night-Mat Kearney. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Mack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Key Chain!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chain shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mack as he jumps to the side.
Chain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Chain ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mack moves away.
Chain stuffs the takedown.

Chain fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mack, pushing him back against the cage.

Mack turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Mack is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chain has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mack advances to mount.
Mack fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mack has hold of Chain's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Chain manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Chain tries to lock up and control but Mack gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Chain is wriggling around trying to escape.

Mack breaks from Chain's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Mack is working for a guillotine from mount but Chain frees his head quite easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Chain squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Mack is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Chain has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Chain!
Chain wants to control from the top but Mack keeps moving.

Mack is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chain is aware though and is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chain wants to pass the guard but Mack is keeping the position.

Mack working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Chain trying to control the position from guard on top but Mack is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chain wants to get up but he can't break Mack's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Chain avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chain has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mack is proving hard to escape from.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Chain got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chain has managed to get both his arms back between Mack's legs - danger averted.

Chain avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mack throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Chain escapes and throws Mack's legs to the side, diving into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Mack dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Chain leaves Mack with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mack throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Chain counters with a nice body shot.
Chain misses with a wild combination.
Chain is looking to clinch.
Mack blocks a head kick by Chain.
Mack throws a right hand that Chain ducks under and follows up with a left that Chain also avoids with ease.
Mack takes a kick to the side of the head.
Chain tries to close the distance and clinch but Mack swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chain swings for the body but Mack moves out of range.
Mack shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mack shoots for a double leg takedown but Chain sprawls well. He's pushed Mack's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Mack. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Chain throws a nice inside leg kick.
Mack swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mack shoots in looking for a takedown. Chain tries to sprawl out of it but Mack keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chain manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chain misses with a head kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Chain finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chain.
Mack blocks the body kick.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Chain.
Chain pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Chain takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Chain looks to land a combination but Mack avoids it well.
Mack on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Chain. Chain obviously looking to wear him down.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mack gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mack keeping moving, preventing Chain from controlling successfully.

Mack is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chain defends well.

Mack kicks Chain off and gets to his feet.
Chain defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mack.
Chain throws a combination. Mack tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Chain pushes Mack away with a front kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Key Chain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chain misses with a wild combination.
Mack swats away the attempt to clinch by Chain.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Chain.
Chain lands a right hook to the body.

Mack closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chain did well to prevent Mack getting side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mack looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Chain is trying to stand up here but Mack is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chain preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Mack seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Chain has recovered full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Key Chain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Chain darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Mack won't allow Chain to pass to mount.
Mack works his way to full guard. Good work.
Chain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mack can't escape the position.

Mack regains half guard.
Mack tries to get to full guard but Chain has control of the leg.
Chain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mack keeps working.
Chain tries to stand and escape but Mack is controlling the position.
Chain is trying to control the action in half guard but Mack is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Mack is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chain pulls his head out easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chain decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Chain tries to stand and escape but Mack is controlling the position.

Chain decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Key Chain seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Chain throws a series of strikes that have Mack backpedaling.
Mack dodges the punch combination from Chain.
Mack shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chain but Chain pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Chain tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Mack is able to avoid easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Key Chain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Chain has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
