PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dark Daemon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinn is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Razorlight - Vice. Jason Quinn will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dark Daemon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Quinn!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quinn doesn't manage to clinch there - Daemon circles away.
Good shot there by Quinn.


It looks like Dark Daemon has been cut.
Daemon steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Quinn.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Daemon is defended easily by Quinn.
Quinn throws a hook to the side of Daemon's head but Daemon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Quinn scores with a nice right hand.
Daemon throws a lazy right hand but Quinn sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Daemon avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nice defenses there by Daemon.
Quinn bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Daemon's head.

Daemon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Daemon showed some decent athleticism there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Quinn pushes Daemon off looking to stand but Daemon dives back in and keeps control.

Daemon is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Daemon wants to free his trapped foot but Quinn is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Daemon thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Quinn is controlling Daemon's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Daemon works over Quinn with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quinn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Daemon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Daemon passes into half guard.
Daemon sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Quinn defending well though.
Daemon wants to pass the guard but Quinn is defending well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Daemon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Quinn was well out of range. Poor timing from Daemon.
Quinn swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Daemon.
Daemon blocks a jab.
Quinn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Daemon circles away quickly and effectively.
Quinn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Daemon.

Quinn is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Quinn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Daemon.
Quinn throws a body punch but Daemon moves out of range.

Nice takedown defense from Quinn. No joy for Daemon on that attempt.

Quinn is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Daemon.

A looping hook to the body misses from Daemon. Quinn does a little dance to reset his feet.

Daemon shoots in and drives through. Quinn sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dark Daemon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Daemon throws a sloppy head kick and Quinn moves out of range easily.
Quinn is looking to clinch but Daemon is avoiding it.

Quinn misses with a straight left.
Quinn connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Daemon momentarily.
Quinn wants to clinch.
Quinn might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Daemon throws a head kick that misses.

Quinn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Daemon to the mat! Daemon manages to get full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Daemon controls Quinn momentarily but Quinn frees himself.
Daemon looking for a sweep. Not yet Daemon, not yet.
Dark Daemon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Quinn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Daemon's head.
Quinn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Daemon is adopting a defensive guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Daemon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quinn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Quinn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Daemon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Quinn is aware though and is defending well.

Daemon has his foot on Quinn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Quinn works his way back into a safe position though.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Quinn seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Quinn throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Quinn throws an overhand right that lands on Daemon's shoulder, as Daemon tries to avoid the shot.
Daemon takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Quinn jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Daemon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Daemon throws a body punch but Quinn moves out of range.
Daemon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Quinn but Quinn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Quinn cracks Daemon with an open hand slap.
Quinn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The crowd cheers as Quinn lands an impressive looking overhand right. Daemon doesn't seem phased though.
Daemon takes a jab right on the kisser.
Daemon shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dark Daemon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Quinn scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Dark Daemon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Quinn has taken the fight to the clinch.
Quinn lands an uppercut.
Quinn lands with a right to the head.
Quinn working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Quinn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

No joy there for Daemon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Quinn tries to close the distance and clinch but Daemon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Quinn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Daemon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Daemon is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Quinn is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jason Quinn was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Quinn pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Daemon back to the cage. Quinn follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Daemon takes a swing at Quinn's ribcage but misses.
Daemon keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Quinn.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Quinn scores with the left hand. Daemon knows he should have avoided that one.

Daemon feints and as Quinn raises his hands in defense, Daemon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

I think Quinn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
