PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lunchmeat Sandwich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Mike Alvarez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lunchmeat Sandwich!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sandwich blocks a head kick by Alvarez.
Alvarez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sandwich shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alvarez as he avoids it easily.

Sandwich drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Alvarez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sandwich gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Alvarez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Alvarez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sandwich doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sandwich manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sandwich drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sandwich jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sandwich can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alvarez is looking to escape.
Alvarez is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sandwich is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Alvarez is surviving well by controlling Sandwich's body position as best he can.

Sandwich is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Alvarez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Alvarez shrugs it off.

Sandwich is working for a guillotine from mount but Alvarez frees his head quite easily.

Sandwich won't let Alvarez get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Sandwich is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Alvarez is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
