Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Rafael!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wilem Schneider!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rafael defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Schneider.
Schneider shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rafael as he jumps to the side.
Rafael tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rafael misses with a kick to the body.

Rafael throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Schneider was covering up waiting for the punch and Rafael finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Rafael drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rafael jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Schneider really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rafael. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rafael is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rafael is working Schneider over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Rafael has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rafael looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Schneider with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Rafael has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Schneider defend it? Rafael steps over the head and cranks it - Schneider is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Rafael!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jack Rafael!
