PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fatih Emir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janjalani Abu Bakhar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emir comes to the cage accompanied by i kill people. Abu Bakhar is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Allah Wakbar. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fatih Emir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Janjalani Abu Bakhar!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Emir darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Emir lands a nice short elbow.
Abu Bakhar slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Abu Bakhar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Emir avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Abu Bakhar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Emir gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Emir is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Abu Bakhar defends well.

Emir has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Abu Bakhar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Abu Bakhar drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Abu Bakhar jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Emir is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Abu Bakhar is aware though and is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Emir had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Abu Bakhar defends it easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Abu Bakhar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Abu Bakhar postures up in Emir's guard and throws a big left but Emir blocks it.

Abu Bakhar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Emir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abu Bakhar has managed to get both his arms back between Emir's legs - danger averted.
Emir tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Abu Bakhar's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Abu Bakhar keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Emir's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Emir is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Emir has his foot on Abu Bakhar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Abu Bakhar works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Janjalani Abu Bakhar will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Emir enables Abu Bakhar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Emir manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee warns Emir that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Oh Emir is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Janjalani Abu Bakhar!
A very excited looking Janjalani Abu Bakhar rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
