The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thomas rushes Rousey and presses him up against the cage.
Rousey is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Thomas jumps guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Thomas has Rousey pulled in close to control his posture.
Rousey wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving.

Thomas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rousey defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rousey is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Thomas wants to sweep but no luck.
Rousey looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ronald Rousey.
Rousey swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Thomas gets tackled into the cage by Rousey. Rousey maintains the clinch.
Rousey is trying to break free.
Thomas avoiding damage.

Thomas manages to pull guard.
Thomas controls Rousey momentarily but Rousey frees himself.

Rousey thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Thomas keeping moving, preventing Rousey from controlling successfully.
Rousey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Thomas manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Rousey tries to improve his position but instead Thomas has taken his back!
Rousey rolls, trying to escape but Thomas keeps control of the position.
Rousey trying to survive by controlling the hands.
Rousey turns into Thomas and is now in his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thomas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rousey looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rousey drops back, looking for a kneebar! Thomas looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Thomas looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Thomas!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thomas is posturing up here but Rousey has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Thomas tries to roll out but it's too tight and Thomas has to tap! Slick submission there by Rousey!
