Grant's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Alice in Chains - Rooster. Orton has chosen BOOM by P.O.D. as his entrance music. Cody Grant has the better chin. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orton swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Grant counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Grant.
Grant creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Orton's defenses.

It looks like Randy Orton has been cut.
Orton is trying to maintain a safe position but Grant gets an underhook and turns Orton into the cage.
Orton takes an elbow to the temple.
Grant unloads a knee to the mid-section. Orton lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Grant with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Grant lands a big right hand that sends Orton crashing to the mat! Grant stays standing though and waves Orton back to his feet!

Orton is rocked!

That has opened up Randy Orton's cut even more.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grant misses with a head kick.
Orton is still on wobbly legs! Can Grant finish him?

and Grant makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Grant tries to clinch but Orton moves out of range.
Orton seems to have recovered his senses.
Grant tries to clinch up but Orton circles away and keeps his distance.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Grant.

Grant feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Orton sprawling to the canvas! Orton rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Grant finish him?!
Randy Orton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grant lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Both fighters circling a little - Grant finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Grant feints a jab and as Orton dips his head, Grant unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Orton right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Orton falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Grant smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Cody Grant!
