PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miklos Finklebaum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carver McNulty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McNulty has chosen Still I Rise - Shadows Fall as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miklos Finklebaum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carver McNulty!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McNulty pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Finklebaum back to the cage. McNulty follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Miklos Finklebaum has been cut.

McNulty scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

McNulty has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
McNulty shoots in but no luck this time.
Finklebaum stuffs the takedown attempt from McNulty. McNulty gets slowly back to his feet.
Finklebaum shoots for a double leg takedown but McNulty sprawls well. He's pushed Finklebaum's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Finklebaum changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McNulty tries to avoid it but Finklebaum manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McNulty to the ground. McNulty escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

McNulty closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McNulty lands in his opponent's guard.
McNulty content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
McNulty lands a couple of decent looking shots.
McNulty is looking to work some ground and pound but Finklebaum has wrist control.
McNulty lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Finklebaum is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McNulty is aware though and is defending well.
Finklebaum is breathing heavily.

Finklebaum working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McNulty doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McNulty manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Finklebaum has his foot on McNulty's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McNulty works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McNulty lands a couple of digs.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells McNulty's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
McNulty postures up and lands a big shot to Finklebaum's brow.
McNulty is pushing down on Finklebaum's leg trying to pass to half guard. Finklebaum is fighting to maintain full guard but McNulty has managed to sneak the leg through.

Finklebaum is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McNulty pulls his head out easily.
Finklebaum has hold of McNulty's hands but McNulty slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McNulty wants to pass to mount but Finklebaum is defending the position.
Finklebaum wants to get back to full guard but McNulty has passed into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McNulty is chipping away with strikes.
McNulty looks up at the clock and then as Finklebaum takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McNulty smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!


Finklebaum is rocked!
Finklebaum takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Oh Finklebaum is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
McNulty landing strikes.
McNulty is chipping away with strikes.
McNulty cracks Finklebaum with an elbow. That is naaassty.

McNulty goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Finklebaum rolls with the submission and now he's on top in McNulty's guard! Nice work there by Finklebaum!
McNulty is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Finklebaum is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Finklebaum is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McNulty doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Finklebaum.

Finklebaum is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
McNulty manages to get to full guard.
Finklebaum stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McNulty swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McNulty manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Finklebaum manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Finklebaum is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McNulty defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

McNulty is nestled in close to Finklebaum, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
McNulty throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Finklebaum is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McNulty pulls his head out easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McNulty slips a nice elbow through Finklebaum's hands, connecting with Finklebaum's forehead.
McNulty is nestled in close to Finklebaum, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A relieved looking Carver McNulty thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
