Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alek Kaervosk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Filip Gura!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gura misses with a takedown attempt
and Kaervosk counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gura does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Kaervosk closes the distance and pushes Gura back into the cage.
Kaervosk stops a takedown attempt from Gura.

Kaervosk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gura closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kaervosk counters with a three punch combo that has Gura backing up. Gura nods at Kaervosk to acknowledge the strikes.
Kaervosk scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Filip Gura has been cut.
Kaervosk misses with a head kick.
Gura gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kaervosk counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Alek Kaervosk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Filip Gura.

Gura shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gura has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kaervosk is proving hard to escape from.
Gura wants to pass the guard but Kaervosk is keeping the position.
Kaervosk is controlling Gura's posture.
Kaervosk is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Filip Gura has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Gura fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kaervosk avoids it really well and circles away.

Kaervosk has closed the distance and engaged Gura in a clinch.

Kaervosk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Gura closes the distance but Kaervosk moves to the side
and Kaervosk counters with a flying knee. Nice.
A nice combination there by Kaervosk.

Kaervosk takes the fight into the clinch.
Gura is looking to take this one to the mat.
Kaervosk scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Kaervosk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kaervosk throws a combination. Gura tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Kaervosk thows a body kick. Gura tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Kaervosk lands a head kick. Gura smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Kaervosk throws a head kick but Gura moves out of range.
Kaervosk fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gura takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Kaervosk darts in and clinches Gura up against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kaervosk lands a hook to the side of the head.
Gura missing with knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Kaervosk counters with a left and a right that stings Gura.
Gura stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kaervosk.
Kaervosk scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

and Kaervosk counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Kaervosk throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gura.
Alek Kaervosk is winning the standup battle so far.
Gura is breathing heavily.

No joy there for Kaervosk, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kaervosk stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Kaervosk holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kaervosk works on Gura's body with a couple of short punches.
Gura tries to pull guard but Kaervosk forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Kaervosk keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Gura's efforts to push away.

Kaervosk gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Kaervosk wants to get back to his feet.
Kaervosk content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Gura is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kaervosk pulls his head out easily.
Kaervosk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gura on the ground.
Gura is looking to improve his position.
Kaervosk wants to pass to mount but Gura is defending the position.

Kaervosk is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alek Kaervosk wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Gura moves in looking to clinch but Kaervosk pushes him off.
Alek Kaervosk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kaervosk smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Gura wants to clinch
and Kaervosk counters with a one-two to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kaervosk throws a combination. Gura tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kaervosk throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gura shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Kaervosk is defending against the submission attempts here by Gura.
Kaervosk is trying to maintain the position but Gura is very close to passing his half guard.
Kaervosk on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kaervosk tries to get out of the position.

Kaervosk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gura is pressing down on Kaervosk's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kaervosk is holding on for now.

Gura looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gura trying to control the pace.
Filip Gura has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gura trying to control the action but Kaervosk is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Filip Gura was stalling too much, according to the referee.
No joy there for Kaervosk, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kaervosk throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A combination from Kaervosk does no damage.
Gura doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kaervosk counters with a slapping leg kick.

Gura avoids a punch combination nicely.

Kaervosk forces Gura back against the cage and clinches.

Kaervosk has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gura is trying to keep an underhook but Kaervosk manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Gura preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Kaervosk is figuring out what he wants to do next.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alek Kaervosk.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kaervosk, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
