The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lombard wants to stand and escape but Gracie is having none of it.
Gracie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lombard works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gracie lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Lombard wants to stand but Gracie is controlling the position.
Gracie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Gracie decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lombard, up you get!

Gracie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lombard throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Lombard!

Gracie has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Lombard is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gracie yanks on the arm and Lombard is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gracie.
