PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dan Leighty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boy Bubby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leighty kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Cowboy Dan. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leighty displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bubby.
Leighty feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bubby's calf.
Bubby fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Leighty bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Leighty connects with a leg kick. Bubby looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Leighty throws a leg kick but Bubby moved away.
Bubby stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Leighty's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Leighty duly obliges.
Bubby fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Leighty avoids it really well and circles away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
No joy there for Leighty, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bubby will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Leighty fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bubby, pushing him back against the cage.
Leighty lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bubby backwards.
Leighty swings wildly with an uppercut but Bubby uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bubby tries to stall but Leighty uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Bubby has picked Leighty up - he's going for a ride! Bubby dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Bubby controlling from the top position.
Bubby wants to control from the top but Leighty keeps moving.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bubby seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Leighty is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Boy Bubby has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A left lands for Leighty.
Bubby shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Leighty ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Leighty cracks Bubby with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
The crowd cheers as Leighty lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bubby doesn't seem phased though.
Bubby throws a right and a left that Leighty avoids nicely.
Bubby throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bubby fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Leighty throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Bubby swings for the body but Leighty moves out of range.
Bubby takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Leighty throws a right hand that Bubby ducks under and follows up with a left that Bubby also avoids with ease.

Bubby will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bubby fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
