PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Brady (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Block (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Brady!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, James Block!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Block will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brady swinging wildly here.
Block fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ryan Brady seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brady lands with a nice combination. Block backs away looking to recover.
Block slips a jab and a cross from Brady.
Brady misses with a looping left.
Block misses with a two punch combination.
Brady throws the kick towards the body but Block avoids it.
Block circles away from the clinch attempt.

Block feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brady wants to get back to his feet but Block is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brady keeping moving, preventing Block from controlling successfully.
Brady is looking to stand up but Block isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brady scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Block checks a low kick from Brady.
Brady really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brady swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Brady tries to sprawl but Block drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Block is working for a submission of some sort.
Block wants to control but Brady is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Block is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Brady sees it coming and defends easily.

Block wants to work for an arm triangle but Brady is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Brady avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Block.
Block uses his free foot to push down on Brady's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brady.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Block working the ground and pound effectively.
Block wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Block throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Block misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Block gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Block showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Brady.
Block fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brady avoids it really well and circles away.
Ryan Brady has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Block.
Brady misses with a wild body shot.
Brady stuffs the takedown.
Sloppy strikes from Brady. Those never looked like landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Block shoots in but no luck this time.
Brady throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Block decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Brady's guard.
Brady is breathing heavily.
Block throws a big elbow that misses.
Block has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Brady wriggles free and stands up.
Brady stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brady wants it to stay on the feet.
Brady throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Brady falls off balance throwing a combination
and Brady takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brady misses with a wild combination.
Block will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Block dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Block shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Block prevents Brady from standing back up.
Block controlling the action here.
Brady wants to get back to his feet.
Block uses his free foot to push down on Brady's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brady.

Block looking to isolate an arm here. Brady doesn't see it coming and as Block extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Block!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James Block!
A relieved looking James Block thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
