PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hatsu Misaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clark Gerra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Misaki might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to AC/DC: Thunderstruck. The key to victory for Hatsu Misaki has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hatsu Misaki!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clark Gerra!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerra shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Misaki pinned against the cage. Misaki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gerra defending well as Misaki loads up on a big left hand.
Misaki misses with the combination.
Misaki drops Gerra with a beautiful combination! Gerra stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Misaki is looking for the KO!


Gerra is rocked!
Misaki throws a shot to the body.
Gerra is still on wobbly legs! Can Misaki finish him?
Gerra looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Misaki throws a right hand that Gerra ducks under and follows up with a left that Gerra also avoids with ease.
Misaki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gerra.
Misaki swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gerra showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Misaki.
Hatsu Misaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gerra shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Misaki as he jumps to the side.
Misaki is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gerra.
Gerra showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Misaki.
Misaki misses with an uppercut. Gerra saw that one coming.
Misaki throws a right and a left that both miss.
Misaki throws a shot from downtown. Gerra moves away and avoids it.
Gerra seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Misaki fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gerra uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Misaki.
Gerra shoots in but no luck this time.
Hatsu Misaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clark Gerra.
Misaki fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gerra looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Misaki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gerra moves away.
Some wild striking there from Misaki.
Gerra with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Misaki to score with a decent uppercut.

Gerra scores with a takedown into Misaki's guard.

Misaki is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Misaki has control of Gerra's left arm, preventing Gerra from doing any damage.
Misaki is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gerra is controlling him.
Gerra trying to control the position from guard on top but Misaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gerra tries to free his leg and advance position but Misaki is retaining full guard.
Gerra trying to control but Misaki is working from the bottom.
Misaki trying to keep a closed guard but Gerra is proving a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A combination from Misaki does no damage.
Misaki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gerra moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Gerra decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gerra wants to control but Misaki is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gerra looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Misaki pushes Gerra off looking to stand but Gerra dives back in and keeps control.
Gerra is tying to control. Misaki wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Gerra trying to pass the guard but Misaki defending well.
Misaki is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gerra's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gerra's back!
Misaki is hanging on to Gerra's back as he tries to escape.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gerra breaks Misaki's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Gerra thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gerra won't allow Misaki to sweep him here.
Misaki managing to control the position.
Gerra stops Misaki from standing up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gerra trying to control the position from guard on top but Misaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Misaki will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Misaki keeping full guard, as Gerra tries to pass.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hatsu Misaki dominated that round.
That's time! Misaki's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Misaki closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Gerra shoots in looking for a takedown. Misaki tries to sprawl out of it but Gerra keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Misaki manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Misaki lands a jab-cross combination.
Misaki throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gerra sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Misaki scores with a body shot.
Gerra shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Misaki but Misaki pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gerra shoots in for a double leg but Misaki sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hatsu Misaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clark Gerra.
Misaki misses with a few strikes there.
Gerra seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Misaki shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Gerra is backing up but Misaki catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Gerra covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Misaki Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hatsu Misaki!
Hatsu Misaki retains his lightweight title!
