Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Bullet Bookem!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson slips a jab and a cross from Bookem.
Johnson misses with a hook.
Bookem fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Bookem tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bookem manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bookem connects with a crisp jab.

Johnson gets the takedown into side control.
Johnson misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Bookem is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Johnson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Johnson seems to be looking for submissions.
Bookem is controlling Johnson's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Bookem is defending against the submission attempts here by Johnson.

Bookem moves into full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bookem wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it.
Johnson preventing the sweep.

Johnson throws a strike but Bookem rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Bookem trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bookem can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bookem not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Johnson keeping moving, preventing Bookem from controlling successfully.

Johnson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bookem is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Bookem looking to improve position, pressing down on Johnson's thigh with his hand. Johnson seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Bookem paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Bookem's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Johnson picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Jack Johnson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
