Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Cote!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maurice De La Rue!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cote shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cote was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Cote slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

De La Rue escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cote gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That was a close round but I would say that David Cote will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cote's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

David Cote overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cote is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down De La Rue's shoulder. That is not cool.

David Cote is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

De La Rue is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cote is aware though and is defending well.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to David Cote.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cote, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
