PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Subedei Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Watch All 4 Parts. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Subedei Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Beckett!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckett takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Khan lands a body shot.
Khan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Beckett lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Khan misses with a hook to the body
and Beckett counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Khan throws a shot from downtown. Beckett moves away and avoids it.
Khan missing with a left hand there. Beckett was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Khan throws a series of punches but Beckett avoids them all with ease.
Decent striking displayed by Khan there.
Beckett drops his hands momentarily and Khan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Khan's jab looks to have found its range, popping Beckett under the eye.

Khan throws a hook to the side of Beckett's head but Beckett sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Beckett paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Beckett checks a leg kick.
Beckett lands a leg kick that knocks Khan off balance momentarily.
Subedei Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan moves in looking to clinch but Beckett pushes him off.
Beckett throws a hook but Khan blocks it.
Beckett throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Subedei Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Khan throws a body punch but Beckett moves out of range.

Khan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Beckett looks to throw the jab but Khan is out of range.

Khan paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Beckett closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Khan quickly recovers to half guard.
Beckett wants to pass the guard but Khan is defending well.

Beckett looks to throw the jab but Khan is out of range.

Beckett takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Beckett ducks under a wild hook from Khan.
Beckett jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Beckett shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khan but Khan pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Khan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Beckett.
Khan misses with an uppercut. Beckett saw that one coming.

Beckett shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Beckett showed some decent athleticism there.
Khan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Khan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Beckett throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Beckett slips a nice elbow through Khan's hands, connecting with Khan's forehead.
Khan tries to kick Beckett off but Beckett keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Beckett wants to pass the guard but Khan is defending well.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Beckett cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Jim Beckett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Beckett is looking to pass into half guard but Khan pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Khan is in guard.
Beckett wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Khan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Khan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Beckett lands with a hook. Khan tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


Khan is rocked!
Beckett walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Khan drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Beckett swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Khan's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Beckett!
