PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Takanori Gomi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Hardy!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardy wants to clinch up but Gomi keeps it at a distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Hardy tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Gomi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gomi stuffs the takedown attempt from Hardy. Hardy gets slowly back to his feet.

Gomi closes the distance and clinches.

Hardy pulls guard successfully.
Hardy is looking to stand up but Gomi isn't so interested in that idea.
Gomi wants to control from the top but Hardy keeps moving.
Hardy pulls Gomi in close to prevent any damage.
Hardy controls Gomi momentarily but Gomi frees himself.
Gomi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Chris Hardy wasn't active enough on the ground.
Hardy wants to clinch
and Gomi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hardy tries to clinch

and Gomi counters by moving into the clinch.
Hardy takes a shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gomi gets through Hardy's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Hardy goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hardy is looking to control Gomi's arms but Gomi gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hardy has his back to the ropes.
Gomi lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hardy or not.
Gomi lands a left hand.

Hardy is rocked!
Gomi creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Hardy's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Hardy drops to his knees and Gomi pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takanori Gomi!
