The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mariucci is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kegele.
Mariucci clobbers Kegele with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kegele lands a nice looking body shot.
Kegele tries to clinch up but Mariucci circles away and keeps his distance.
Mariucci scores with a three punch combo!
Kegele staying out of range there.
Kegele avoids the body shot from Mariucci.
Mariucci misses with a straight left.

and Kegele holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kegele has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mariucci is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Mariucci wants to get back to striking at distance but Kegele won't allow it.
Kegele manages to break the clinch.
Mariucci throws out a loose jab but Kegele uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kegele tries to clinch but Mariucci is having none of it.
Kegele lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mariucci connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Kegele postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Kegele has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kegele tries to free his leg and advance position but Mariucci is retaining full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mariucci pulls Kegele in close to prevent any damage.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mariucci fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kegele manages to avoid it.
Mariucci throws a nice looking combination but Kegele bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mariucci ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kegele moves away.
Mariucci lands a jab-cross combination.
It looks like Maxwell Kegele has been cut.
Kegele will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mariucci fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kegele manages to avoid it.
Mariucci misses with a looping left.
Kegele darts in and clinches Mariucci up against the cage.
Mariucci tries to break the clinch but Kegele is controlling the position.
Kegele is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kegele pulls guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mariucci is looking to stand up but Kegele won't let him.
Kegele throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Kegele wants to reverse the position here. Mariucci has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but Kegele is forced to tap! Kegele looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.
