Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pele Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Danny Smith!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva circles away from the clinch attempt.
Silva tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.

Silva is trying to force a seperation but Smith has the dominant position.

Silva successfully pulls guard.
Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Silva pulls Smith in close to prevent any damage.
Silva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Smith is looking to improve his position.

Smith tries to get to full guard but Silva has control of the leg.

Smith is breathing heavily.

Smith is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Silva is pressed up against the cage. Smith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Silva down to the mat. Silva avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Smith leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Smith is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Silva is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Silva is working for a guillotine from mount but Smith frees his head quite easily.

Smith's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Silva is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Smith is surviving well by controlling Silva's body position as best he can.
Silva lands a big shot there that rocks Smith but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Smith is squirming around, avoiding Silva's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva.

Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pele Silva decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
