Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kiko Kaluma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Grapist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Grapist's choice of entrance music: Know Your Enemy by Rage Against the Machine. Jerry Grapist will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kiko Kaluma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jerry Grapist!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Grapist is defended easily by Kaluma.
Grapist looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Kaluma closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kaluma will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kaluma lands strikes from half guard.
Grapist has hold of Kaluma's hands but Kaluma slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kaluma seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Grapist does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kaluma scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Kaluma really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kaluma lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Grapist is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kaluma scores with a couple of nice shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kaluma winds up and cracks Grapist with a swinging punch to the side of the head.


Grapist is rocked!

Kaluma wants to work for an arm triangle but Grapist is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Grapist is still in real trouble! Can Kaluma finish him?
Grapist is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kaluma scores with a couple of nice shots.
Kaluma seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Kaluma is working for a kimura but Grapist is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kaluma looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Grapist with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kaluma lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Grapist quite badly. Grapist pulls Kaluma in close trying to recover. Kaluma postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Grapist on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Grapist doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kiko Kaluma!
