The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pereira misses the jab.
Gonzalez drops his hands momentarily and Pereira takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Pereira rushes Gonzalez and presses him up against the cage.
Gonzalez tries to pull guard but Pereira won't allow it.
Pereira pushes Gonzalez back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Pereira lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Pereira lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Pereira lands a left hand that snaps the head of Gonzalez backwards.
Gonzalez tries to pull guard but Pereira forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

A nice left hand lands by Pereira.
Gonzalez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pereira avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Lucas Pereira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Devon Gonzalez.
Gonzalez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gonzalez manages to end up in side control.

Gonzalez works to advance to full mount. Pereira defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Gonzalez wants to finish this one by submission but Pereira is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gonzalez.

Pereira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gonzalez on the ground.

Gonzalez goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pereira turns into him and now he's in Gonzalez's guard.

Gonzalez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pereira's guard.
Pereira controls Gonzalez momentarily but Gonzalez frees himself.
Gonzalez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pereira looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pereira looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pereira!

Gonzalez is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Pereira has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Gonzalez has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Pereira taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Gonzalez doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Devon Gonzalez decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
