Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gino Abate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Marchand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gino Abate could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brad Marchand's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marchand tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Abate swivels and escapes.
Abate shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Marchand eats them both and turns towards Abate to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Marchand throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Abate's waist but Abate gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marchand off to one side.
Abate looks to land a combination but Marchand avoids it well.
Abate throws a leg kick but Marchand sees it coming and moves out of range.
Marchand shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Abate as he jumps to the side.
Gino Abate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Marchand.
Abate lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Marchand circles away quickly and effectively.
No luck for Marchand with that takedown attempt.
Abate will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Abate goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Abate throws a nice looking combination but Marchand bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Marchand gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Abate will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Abate misses with a double jab.
Marchand shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Abate fails to land with a series of punches.
Abate is breathing heavily.
Abate throws a combination that misses

and Marchand counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Abate!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Marchand in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abate tries to improve position but can't.

Marchand wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Abate, who protects the arm well.

Marchand content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Marchand looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Marchand controls the position.
Let's hope that Marchand has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Abate is trying to buck Marchand off.
Marchand happy to just control the position for now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brad Marchand hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Abate throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marchand.
Abate misses with a wild combination.
Abate throws a right and a left that both miss.
Marchand shoots in but Abate avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Marchand gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Abate.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Marchand.

Marchand is working to tighten is grip on Abate's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Abate has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Marchand is really squeezing tight and eventually Abate passes out! Marchand breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
