Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nycky Downtime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Downtime comes to the cage accompanied by Bring It. Johns has chosen Welcome to the jungle as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nycky Downtime!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Johns!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Downtime gets caught napping as Johns dives in and scores a takedown. Downtime manages to retain guard.
Johns wants to pass the guard but Downtime is keeping the position.
Downtime keeping moving, preventing Johns from controlling successfully.
Johns content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Johns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Downtime swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Johns lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Downtime has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Downtime and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Johns tried to score with a low kick but Downtime checks it.

Johns closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Downtime to the mat! Downtime manages to get full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Downtime bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johns's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Downtime thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Downtime got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johns has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Downtime has managed to get both his arms back between Johns's legs - danger averted.

Downtime is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Johns landing punches.
Johns lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johns tries to control but Downtime wriggling away.
Downtime sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Johns is trying to control the action in half guard but Downtime is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Johns throws a chopping leg kick but Downtime manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Nycky Downtime is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Downtime bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Junior Johns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johns throws out a loose jab but Downtime uses good head movement to avoid it.

Downtime moves out of range of the leg kick from Johns.
Downtime thows a body shot but no joy.
Downtime ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johns moves away.

and Downtime counters with a left and a right that stings Johns.
Downtime walks into a stiff left hand from Johns.
Downtime stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Downtime wants it to stay on the feet.

Johns scores with a hook to the body. Downtime takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nycky Downtime.
I think Johns has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
