Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barristan Selmy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barristan Selmy!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Walker !
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Selmy. Beautiful body shot.
Walker throws a jab when Selmy was well out of range.
Selmy fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Walker throws a quick inside leg kick.
Walker throws a half hearted mid kick.
Walker pivots, looking for a leg kick but Selmy is out of range and Walker settles back down.
Walker throws a head kick that misses.
Selmy staying out of range there.
Selmy takes a swing at Walker 's ribcage but misses.
Walker throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Selmy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Walker was well out of range. Poor timing from Selmy.
Selmy blocks a head kick by Walker .
Selmy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Selmy thows a left - swing and a miss!
Walker swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Dean Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Selmy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Walker 's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Selmy trying to control the position from guard on top but Walker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Walker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Selmy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Walker is looking to stand up but Selmy isn't so interested in that idea.
Selmy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Selmy postures up in Walker 's guard and throws a big left but Walker blocks it.
Selmy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Walker controls Selmy momentarily but Selmy frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dean Walker .

Selmy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Selmy showed some decent athleticism there.

Selmy is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Selmy throwing shots but Walker is blocking nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walker can do anything to dispel that myth.
Walker pushes Selmy off looking to stand but Selmy dives back in and keeps control.

Selmy seems to be looking for submissions.
Selmy wants to pass the guard but Walker is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Selmy is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Walker has managed to free his arm - good work.
Selmy thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Selmy is looking to take a break and control but Walker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barristan Selmy dominated that round.
That's time! Selmy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Selmy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Walker 's guard.
Selmy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Walker 's guard.
Walker blocking the ground and pound attempt from Selmy.
Selmy throwing shots but Walker is blocking nicely.
Selmy is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Walker !

Barristan Selmy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Selmy working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Walker is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Selmy working the ground and pound effectively.
Walker is desperately trying to improve his position but Selmy has a good base and remains in mount.
Selmy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Selmy with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Walker is in a horrible position here. Selmy smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


It looks like Dean Walker has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Selmy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Selmy lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Walker wants to hold on but Selmy pushes him away.
Walker is trying desperately to improve position.
Selmy lands a big shot there that rocks Walker but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Selmy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Walker is looking to escape.
Selmy scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Selmy lands a nice shot to the head.


That has opened up Dean Walker 's cut even more.
Selmy working away from the top, dropping strikes.


The cut above Dean Walker 's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Selmy looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Walker covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Barristan Selmy!
Barristan Selmy is the new heavyweight champion!
A relieved looking Barristan Selmy thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
