PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Blade Kakashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Rhodes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Kakashi tenderised Rhodes's leg. Rhodes is trying to keep his angry face on.

Kakashi does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Kakashi feints and then cracks Rhodes's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rhodes down.

and Rhodes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rhodes.
Rhodes's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Rhodes has Kakashi pressed against the cage, preventing Kakashi from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Kakashi is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rhodes is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kakashi to the mat. Kakashi regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Rhodes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rhodes won't allow Kakashi to get back to his feet.
Kakashi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rhodes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jerry Rhodes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

That was a close round but I would say that Blade Kakashi will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Rhodes feints and as Kakashi raises his hands in defense, Rhodes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rhodes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rhodes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
