Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Lamas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Aldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Lamas!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo tries for a takedown but Lamas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lamas closes the distance and clinches.
Aldo blocks an elbow strike.

Lamas turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Lamas tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Aldo is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Lamas is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Lamas is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Aldo is surviving well by controlling Lamas's body position as best he can.
Aldo is trying desperately to improve position.

Lamas landing strikes, looking to finish!
Aldo tries to lock up and control but Lamas gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lamas breaks from Aldo's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Lamas postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Aldo looks a forlorn figure.
Aldo manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Aldo wants to get back to full guard.
Lamas working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Aldo's thigh. Aldo counters though and makes it back to full guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Aldo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Lamas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Lamas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Aldo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lamas is aware though and is defending well.
Lamas wants to pass the guard but Aldo is keeping the position.
Lamas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Lamas is in close to Aldo's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Lamas decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lamas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Aldo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Aldo is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricardo Lamas dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Aldo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jose Aldo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Aldo shoots in but no luck this time.

Lamas looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Aldo!

Lamas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Aldo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Lamas lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Aldo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Lamas drops back looking for a leg! Aldo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Aldo manages to kick Lamas off! Lamas jumps back into Aldo's guard.
Lamas sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Aldo's guard.

Lamas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Aldo is defending against the submission attempts here by Lamas.
Lamas is breathing heavily.
Aldo tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Aldo misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Aldo is looking for a sweep. Lamas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Aldo trying to control but Lamas postures up.
Lamas working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Aldo regains full guard. Nicely done.

Lamas with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aldo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lamas is one step ahead there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ricardo Lamas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Aldo lands a head kick. Lamas smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Ricardo Lamas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aldo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Lamas's head.

Lamas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Aldo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lamas is in Aldo's guard.

Lamas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aldo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Aldo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Aldo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Aldo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Aldo wants to sweep here but Lamas controlling him for the moment.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lamas content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Aldo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lamas!

Lamas is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Aldo working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Lamas is looking to improve his position but Aldo isn't that keen on the idea.
Lamas is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lamas tries to hold on but Aldo postures up.

Aldo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lamas to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lamas shrugs it off.

Aldo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lamas can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Aldo wants to control the pace but Lamas is squirming around nicely.
Lamas tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Aldo has hold of Lamas's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lamas manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Aldo lands a big shot there that rocks Lamas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Lamas manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Ricardo Lamas has got the better of the ground game so far.

Aldo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lamas defends it well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lamas is refusing to be controlled, as Aldo sits in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jose Aldo.
I think Lamas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
