The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Khan tries to bench press Bowens off him but Bowens keeps the position.

It looks like Bowens might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Khan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bowens is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Khan.
Khan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bowens wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
