Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hakeem Diaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, David Nixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hakeem Diaw!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Diaw as Nixon shoots in.
Nixon misses with a series of wild punches.
Nixon's jab looks to have found its range, popping Diaw under the eye.
Diaw swats away the attempt to clinch by Nixon.
Diaw connects with a nice looking jab.
Diaw avoids the body shot from Nixon.
Nixon fails with a takedown attempt.

Nixon drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Hakeem Diaw wasn't active enough on the ground.
Diaw stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diaw wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Nixon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice uppercut lands for Nixon. That snapped Diaw's head back.
Nixon pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Diaw back to the cage. Nixon follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Nixon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Diaw finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Diaw looks to score with a jab to the body but Nixon is just out of range.
Nixon moves forwards but Diaw connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Nixon closes the distance looking to clinch
and Diaw counters with a lovely shot to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nixon doesn't manage to clinch there - Diaw circles away.
Diaw throws a low kick, looking for Nixon's leg but Nixon calmly moves out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Nixon. Those never looked like landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that David Nixon will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Nixon moves into range and clinches up with Diaw.
Diaw slows down the pace here.

Diaw breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Nixon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Diaw dips to his left and cracks Nixon with an uppercut!
Nixon throws a nice inside leg kick.

Diaw stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Nixon.
David Nixon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nixon throws a jab when Diaw was well out of range.
Diaw showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nixon.
David Nixon is winning the standup battle so far.
Diaw avoids a kick to the body.
Diaw looks to land a left hand but Nixon moved out of range nicely.
Diaw throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nixon stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Diaw throws a poor cross that misses
and Nixon counters with a three punch combo that has Diaw backing up. Diaw nods at Nixon to acknowledge the strikes.

Nixon drives through and clinches with Diaw against the cage.

Nixon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Diaw showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nixon.
Nixon throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Diaw cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Diaw lands with a cross.
Diaw throws a hook but Nixon blocks it.
Nixon throws the left hand but Diaw avoids the punch easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nixon takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Diaw misses with an uppercut. Nixon saw that one coming.
Nixon misses with a two punch combination.
Diaw lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like David Nixon has been cut.
A right-left combo lands from Nixon.
Nixon walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Hakeem Diaw is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Diaw counters with a three punch combo that has Nixon backing up. Nixon nods at Diaw to acknowledge the strikes.
Oh Nixon is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
