PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Congo Ashantie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Neeson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ashantie might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Congo Ashanti. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neeson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Ashantie bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Neeson's head backwards.
Ashantie throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ashantie connects with a looping right hand.
Neeson misses with a looping right.
Ashantie throws a predictable looking body shot
and Neeson counters with a left to the body.
Ashantie feints and then cracks Neeson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Neeson down.
Neeson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Neeson cracks Ashantie with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Neeson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ashantie takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Ashantie here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Ashantie lands a left and a right that send Neeson crashing to the mat, dazed. Ashantie thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Neeson is rocked!

It looks like Liam Neeson has been cut.

After winning the bout, Congo Ashantie thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
