PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George Bran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Mead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary Mead told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, George Bran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Mead.
That kick from Mead tenderised Bran's leg. Bran is trying to keep his angry face on.
Mead feints and then cracks Bran's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bran down.

Mead has closed the distance and engaged Bran in a clinch.
Bran wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Bran takes an elbow to the temple.
Mead lands a hook that snaps the head of Bran backwards.
Mead lands an elbow inside.
Mead lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Mead creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Bran's defenses.
Bran wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mead has him pressed against the cage.
Bran is trying to force a seperation but Mead has the dominant position.
Mead keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bran's efforts to push away.
Bran is trying to break the clinch but Mead has him pressed against the cage.
Mead lands a knee to the body.
Mead crunches a lovely knee into Bran's ribcage.

Mead putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Bran in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Mead lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Bran or not.

Bran takes an elbow to the forehead.

Mead connects with a nasty looking knee right to Bran's face.

Bran is rocked!

Oh Bran is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mead lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bran.
Bran takes an elbow to the temple.
Mead comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Bran wants to get back to striking at distance but Mead won't allow it.
Mead stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Mead has Bran pressed against the cage. He pushes Bran back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Mead throws a beautiful elbow that sends Bran crashing to the floor! Mead piles on the pressure with more strikes! Bran is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
