Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kiser Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Folignus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sosa's entrance music is Fantasy. A fine choice. Folignus has chosen Laces Out as his entrance music. Kiser Sosa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kiser Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Folignus!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sosa takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Folignus uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sosa.
Sosa misses with a kick to the body.
Folignus fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sosa.
Sosa lands with a slapping head kick.

Sosa moves into the clinch.
Sosa tries to circle away but Folignus has him pinned against the cage.

Sosa has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Folignus clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Folignus rolls, trying to escape but Sosa keeps control of the position.

Folignus is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Folignus is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Sosa throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sosa has got his arm under Folignus's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Folignus has spun round into Sosa's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Folignus is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sosa sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sosa tries to get to full guard but Folignus has control of the leg.

Sosa is staying active underneath Folignus, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Folignus looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Sosa gets full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A jab lands there for Folignus.
Folignus throws a big shot that misses.
A head kick misses from Sosa.
Some wild striking there from Sosa.

Sosa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sosa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Sosa misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Folignus tries to buck Sosa off but Sosa is having none of it.

Sosa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sosa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sosa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Folignus is looking for a sweep.
Sosa in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Folignus regains half guard.
Folignus wants to control but Sosa is keeping busy.

Sosa wants to work for an arm triangle but Folignus is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Folignus wants to control but Sosa is keeping busy.

Sosa is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kiser Sosa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sosa throws a strike but Folignus rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Folignus tries to free his leg and advance position but Sosa is retaining full guard.

Folignus postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sosa is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Folignus, into his guard.
Sosa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sosa wants to control from the top but Folignus keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Folignus manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kiser Sosa will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Sosa gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Sosa fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Folignus on the side of the head.
Folignus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sosa as he avoids it easily.
Folignus's jab looks to have found its range, popping Sosa under the eye.
Folignus moves out of range as Sosa strikes.

Sosa dives in and scores a takedown into Folignus's guard.
Sosa trying to control the position from guard on top but Folignus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sosa looking to sit in guard and control but Folignus gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sosa is looking for a triangle but Folignus pushes his legs off easily.

Sosa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Folignus defends it easily.

Kiser Sosa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Folignus is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sosa!

Folignus goes for an armbar but Sosa turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sosa.

Nick Folignus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Folignus is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Sosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Folignus swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sosa wants to control from the top but Folignus keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Kiser Sosa has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kiser Sosa.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sosa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
