PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roy Bull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Drabek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bull comes to the cage accompanied by Black Label Society - Fire It Up. Drabek has chosen Imagine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roy Bull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeff Drabek!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drabek on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Roy Bull seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bull connects with a jab.

Bull scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Drabek gets full guard.

Drabek is looking for a triangle here but Bull uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The strikes coming from Bull are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Drabek is not content to let Bull control the position.
Bull throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Drabek is looking for a sweep.
Drabek wants to control but Bull postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Drabek is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bull off and has taken his back!

Bull manages to reverse the position and now he's in Drabek's guard. Nice work there by Bull.
Bull connects with a couple of short punches.
Drabek looking for a sweep. Not yet Drabek, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drabek trying to keep a closed guard but Bull is proving a slippery customer.
Bull postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Drabek avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bull won't allow Drabek to sweep him here.
Bull has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bull slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Bull works to advance to full mount. Drabek defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Drabek is desperately trying to improve his position but Bull has a good base and remains in mount.

Drabek is bucking up trying to escape but Bull cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bull landing punches.

Drabek slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Drabek is refusing to be controlled, as Bull sits in half guard.
Bull thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Drabek has hold of Bull's hands but Bull slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Bull wants to pass to mount but Drabek is defending the position.
Bull thows a huge punch but Drabek dodges it nicely.
Bull throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Drabek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bull is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Drabek defends it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bull is thwarting Drabek's attempts to control the position.
Drabek tries to get to full guard but Bull has control of the leg.
Bull throwing shots but Drabek is blocking nicely.
Bull seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Bull looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Drabek is trying to maintain the position but Bull is very close to passing his half guard.
Drabek tries to get to full guard but Bull has control of the leg.
Drabek keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Bull prevents Drabek from improving his position.

Bull winds up and cracks Drabek with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Drabek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bull drops an elbow to the side of Drabek's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Drabek wants to improve his position but Bull is controlling well.
Bull is trying to control. Drabek wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Bull dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bull lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Bull fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Drabek to the ground. Bull is now in Drabek's guard.
Drabek working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bull.
Bull wants to control from the top but Drabek keeps moving.

Drabek has his foot on Bull's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bull works his way back into a safe position though.
Bull throws an elbow that misses. Drabek uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bull's guard. Nice move by Drabek!

Bull escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Drabek gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bull is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Drabek rolls with it to try and escape but Bull cranks on the arm and Drabek is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Roy Bull!
A pretty intense looking Roy Bull took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
