Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, George StPierre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tommy Sirenni!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

StPierre tries to sprawl but Sirenni drives through with a takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sirenni tries to stand but his hand is stuck under StPierre.
StPierre looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sirenni wants to get back to his feet.

Sirenni is working for a submission of some sort.
Sirenni is trying to control. StPierre wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Sirenni might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control StPierre haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
StPierre tries to kick Sirenni off but Sirenni keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Tommy Sirenni has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
StPierre throws the left hand but Sirenni avoids the punch easily.

enabling Sirenni to counter with a crisp jab.
StPierre shoots in for a double leg but Sirenni sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Sirenni looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for StPierre!
StPierre tries to bench press Sirenni off him but Sirenni keeps the position.
StPierre is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sirenni asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
StPierre is looking for a sweep.

Sirenni is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, StPierre has escaped the position, nice work there.
StPierre is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sirenni has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
StPierre is not content to let Sirenni control the position.
Sirenni tries to move to mount but StPierre blocks the move with his legs.

Sirenni is looking to take a break and control but StPierre is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on StPierre's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sirenni wants to lay and pray for a moment but StPierre keeps working.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
StPierre is looking to regain half guard here but Sirenni keeps moving and retains side control.

StPierre tries to escape but Sirenni is in control.
StPierre takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Sirenni tries to get to his feet but StPierre is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Sirenni in his guard.
Sirenni stops StPierre from standing up.

StPierre keeping moving, preventing Sirenni from controlling successfully.
StPierre is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sirenni is controlling him.
StPierre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
StPierre keeping full guard, as Sirenni tries to pass.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Sirenni shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches StPierre napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Sirenni wants to stand but StPierre has his arm trapped.
StPierre is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Sirenni's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

StPierre pulls Sirenni in close to his closed guard and prevents Sirenni from doing any damage or advancing position.
Sirenni has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of StPierre is proving hard to escape from.

StPierre tries to score a body lock takedown but Sirenni shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sirenni gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from StPierre.
StPierre is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sirenni pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Tommy Sirenni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Sirenni closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming StPierre to the mat! StPierre manages to get full guard.

Sirenni has gone for a leg lock! StPierre slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sirenni's guard.
Sirenni wants to get back to his feet but StPierre is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
StPierre throws a big right hand that misses.
StPierre slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sirenni wants to sweep but no luck.
StPierre keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sirenni's head.
Sirenni wants to get back to his feet but StPierre is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Sirenni keeping moving, preventing StPierre from controlling successfully.
StPierre throws a big right hand that misses.
Sirenni tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Sirenni must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
This has been an exciting period of action!
StPierre has his hands on Sirenni's head, controlling the position.

We're going to have a standup here because George StPierre wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Sirenni will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Horrible takedown by Sirenni or perhaps it was just good defense by StPierre which made him look bad.
Sirenni shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with StPierre but StPierre pushes him off and we're back to square one.

StPierre throws a jab but it's blocked by Sirenni.
Sirenni fails with the takedown.
StPierre shoots in but no luck this time.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from StPierre is defended easily by Sirenni.

and Sirenni counters by moving into the clinch.
Sirenni is looking for a takedown up against the cage. StPierre gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
StPierre is looking to take this one to the mat.

Sirenni manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sirenni can do anything to dispel that myth.
StPierre is working Sirenni over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
StPierre distracts Sirenni with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

StPierre makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
StPierre trying to control the position from guard on top but Sirenni is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells StPierre's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
StPierre not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
StPierre lands a couple of digs.
StPierre scoring with some ground and pound.
StPierre wants to control from the top but Sirenni keeps moving.
Sirenni looking to hit a scissor sweep but StPierre is one step ahead there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sirenni tries to strike from the bottom.

George StPierre showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sirenni has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
